Lucas Torreira’s father has confirmed that the Sampdoria midfielder is set to undergo a medical with Arsenal.
It’s understood Arsenal have agreed a £26million deal to sign Torreira, with some reports suggesting that the Gunners could unveil the 22-year-old as early as next week.
Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno have already completed moves to the Emirates this summer and Torreira is expected to join the duo in north London after the World Cup.
‘I want the best for my son and I also know that Arsenal showed a lot of interest in him,’ he told Radi Crc.
‘It’s not done, neither is it official, because he hasn’t signed anything, but there’s a great chance that Lucas’ future will be in England.
‘There was no problem in the negotiations, and the latest is that as soon as the World Cup ends, he’ll go to London for a medical.’
