Unai Emery speaks out on Arsenal transfer plans ahead of deadline day

Unai Emery has spoken out on Arsenal’s transfer plans with the summer window set to close in less than a week.

In the first transfer window since Arsene Wenger left, Arsenal signed goalkeeper Bernd Leno, defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, midfielder Lucas Torreira and forward Matteo Guendouzi.

The Gunners continue to be linked with more players but Emery, 46, admits his focus is on preparing for Arsenal’s first Premier League match rather than incoming signings.

But the former PSG boss admits the club may have to sell some players before the window shuts on Thursday evening.
 
‘My focus is on the first match and preparing, and not for the window and the possibility to sign another player,’ he said.

‘Maybe we need some players to leave because we have lots in the squad, but at the moment, my one focus is on our work.’
