Arsenal have received a huge boost after Alexandre Lacazette was passed fit to take on Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday, according to reports.
The French striker, a £52 million arrival from Lyon last summer, underwent ankle surgery in mid-February and was expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.
That diagnosis has proved accurate, with Lacazette returning to first-team training on schedule, and now the Daily Mail report that Arsene Wenger is considering playing him against Stoke.
Lacazette came through a full training session unscathed on Wednesday and Wenger is eager to name him on the substitutes bench if he is fit enough.
While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will start against the Potters, the former Dortmund man is ineligible in the Europa League and that has hastened Wenger’s desire to get Lacazette back up to full match sharpness.
